Hot on the heels of its Instagram-breaking Supreme and so-recent-it-steams Fragment collaborations, Louis Vuitton has unveiled its next buzz-worthy partnership. Considered the Andy Warhol of our day, Jeff Koons is the tongue-in-cheek American artist you can’t miss even when you’re not a museum-hopping, art-collecting pundit. You may know him for his high chromium balloon animals or his porcelain rendition of Michael Jackson and his pet monkey—but now, you’ll remember him as the man who put Mona Lisa on your favourite Louis Vuitton classics.

The limited edition bags is an art-meets-fashion interpretation of Koons’ Gazing Ball series, where historical paintings and sculptures are reimagined by featuring blue metallic balls, offering viewers a new perspective on the artwork. Named Masters, the capsule collection sees Louis Vuitton icons—Speedy, Palm Springs, Montaigne et al.—emblazoned with Fragonard’s Girl with Dog, Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields and Cypresses, and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa with each of these artists’ names embellished in bold, metallic typefaces. For the extra-milers, you can add on a supplemental Koons touch by dangling a tag with the silhouette of his signature inflatable rabbit. In addition to the bags, the collection also includes a series of wallets, shawls and silk scarves.

“I would hope that when somebody walks down the street with this, that what they’re doing is, they are really celebrating humanity,” explained Koons. “I hope somebody that sees the bag can emotionally feel this connectivity.” Oh, we do. And we’re sold. Irrevocably so.

Louis Vuitton x Jeff Koons’ Masters collection will be available on 28 April, and this collection marks the beginning of a long-running collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Jeff Koons.
