NEWSFLASH! Tomas Maier has a little something up on his sleeve for Bottega Veneta’s fervent followers in Asia: a special bag collection of butterfly-scattered intrecciato classics, exclusively available from 28 April 2017 onwards in selected boutiques in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and – much to our delight – Singapore.

Although not much seen in the concrete jungle of our sunny isle, these winged creatures are often closely affiliated with Asian culture, particularly Japanese, while also making their ubiquitous appearances on the chicest runways as of late, from Gucci, Chanel, Alexander McQueen to Valentino. But as the house of Bottega Veneta has always preferred to let craft speak louder than any flashy attribute could do, it’s natural for the butterfly motif to emerge as an understated signature of Bottega Veneta after it was first introduced in the late 1970s during the times of co-founders Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro.

Translating the symbol of the house’s early historical days into a time-transcending charm, Tomas Maier’s limited edition Butterfly capsule collection sees the brand’s iconic Cabat bag covered in a swath of fluttering flower-like wings. The Baby Olimpia in its pouch and key-chain versions are pretty in its glorious pinks, a feast to the eyes. Set your hearts aflutter as you browse through each of the intricate pieces from the collection in the gallery above. Prices for the bags ranges from S$2940 to S$13,770.

Bottega Veneta’s limited edition butterfly collection will be launched on 28 April 2017 at its ION Orchard boutique.
