Fendi’s resort 2017 collection is a feast for the eyes with a selection of bold graphic prints and optical details. Inspired by traditional American quilts and antique Japanese wallpaper florals, designer Karl Lagerfeld focused on a bold colour palette of red, blue, green, yellow and neutrals.

The wardrobe was a mixture of graphic shapes and volumes, feminine cuts and flower prints. There was a series of romantic ankle-grazing dresses rendered in printed chiffon or crepe de Chine, as well as a number of billowy pleated skirts of various lengths and proportions. Though the graphic prints played heavily throughout, there was a surprising lightness to the collection, which included a number of off-the-shoulder blouses, short ruched skirts and boxy, cropped jackets. Among the highlights was a black duster coat on which shaved mink was pierced into a macro netting complete with blossoming flowers and twirling butterflies.

For Lagerfeld, this collection was all about innovation and experimentation, state-of-the-art technologies fused with next-level artisanal skill. To put it simply, it’s very much the complete package.
