There’s something quite peculiar about the new Givenchy Fall/Winter 2016 advertising campaign shot by photographer duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. No, it’s not because of the star-studded model cast that includes familiar names like Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Julia Nobis and longtime Givenchy muse, Mariacarla Boscono. It’s the subtle contrast between the models who were shot outside of the building and the ones who were shot within.

Notice how the models in the outdoor shots were dressed in darker clothing meant for the streets while the ones who were shot indoors were ‘illuminated’ in full Egyptian regalia. So what does this mean really? Is this a juxtaposition between the ancient and modern or is it something a lot deeper? The Egyptian looks do seem quite out of place with the rest of the collection.

Whatever it may be, one thing’s for sure. The new Givenchy sunglasses shown in the behind-the-scenes video certainly caught my eye…
