Riccardo Tisci debuted his Spring 2017 haute couture collection alongside the men’s Fall 2017 collection inside the Bibliothèque Nationale de France at Paris Fashion Week, presenting his own high-end take on America.
The fashion show was rich with Western influences, evoking a slight country feel — with an affluent twist — translated through gingham prints and leather fringes. The haute couture silhouettes were long and complete with embellishments via feathers and metallic head-to-toe hoops.
Highlights included glammed-up prairie dresses, a fringed black suede jacket and a scallop-fringed halter neck gown worn by Bella Hadid.
“This specific dress is like a Western American design with the fringe and the shape, but seen through the eyes of a child, with the playfulness and the innocent love you find in young eyes only. I put it on Bella because she represents exactly that to me: pure love and allure from another time” explained Tisci.
Sadly, this will be Tisci’s last show for the fashion house as it was confirmed today (Thursday February 2nd 2017) that he has left his role at Givenchy after 12 years at the helm. Despite the seemingly hasty exit, the parting has been described as “mutual and amicable” and was effective on the expiry of his contract on January 31. Rumour has it that Tisci is lined up to take the helm at Versace but that is yet to be confirmed.
