For the 2012 Autumn Winter men’s collection, Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini draws inspiration from Helmut Berger, Oscar Wilde and Leonardo DiCaprio, alluding to the vision of a handsome romantic with a dark appeal.

This season’s key looks are the velvet or jacquard blazers with deco floral prints, which are complemented by micro-pattern trousers and rustic looking boston leather handbags and briefcases. The pieces are slightly oversized, with an air of cool, calm and collected nonchalance embodied by the artist filled with a quiet indignation.

The grunge theme is further played out with military-inspired coats and trenches adorned with fur, metallic buttons and other Prussian details. Echoing the darker tones of this season, the collection offers a luxurious contrast to the brighter colours of the other pieces in your wardrobe.
