You may know Ni Ni for playing the femme fatale opposite Christian Bale in the historical tale of The Flowers of War (2011), or her sugar sweet smile if you’re among @captainmiao’s 701k followers on Instagram. But now, you’re also going to know her as Gucci’s eyewear ambassador.

A true-blue chameleon, Ni Ni transforms into a quirky magpie in her new role. Shot by Alessandro Michele’s go-to photographer Glen Luchford, the Chinese actress dons a pair of ‘60s cat eye shades, mesmerises in a pair of pink glitter-speckled sunnies, and looks achingly cool in a pair of thick-rimmed librarian glasses.

A devoted Michele follower herself, Ni Ni states, “I have been captivated by Alessandro Michele’s collections; his passion for beauty of the past, and how he imparts his own poetic language into designs that speak to the individuality of a person is fascinating.”

Breaking across Asia in February, expect to come across the ubiquitous presence of these romantic images in stores and within glossies.
