It is not very often you get to see celebrities on the runway but Italian fashion house Prada had did just that for their men’s fall winter 2012 runway show held earlier this year in Milan. If any indication, it would probably have be the red carpeted runway the actors of whom such as Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Garrett Hedlund, Jamie Bell, Tim Roth, Emile Hirsch, Alex Carril and Victor Carril are so acquainted with.
For this season, Miucca Prada was inspired by the very notion of power and powerful men. Commanding rather authoritative silhouettes, the collection in general has a very military vibe to the whole look and feel that is unmistakably Milanese. Add to that the buttoned and belted jackets, the spazzolato shoes and the lapel accessories such as the boutonnières and shield-shaped lapel pins that depict symbols of war and chivalry, the runway really felt more like a giant courtroom where masculine power is played out, wrestled, won and lost.
The red-tinted sunglasses which were either worn or neatly tucked into jacket breast pockets are complemented with the softer side of the rosette pens. An indication perhaps of the power of mercy and how these flower topped pens act as symbols of peace amidst all the war games and power struggle.
