It happens all the time. A boutique opens at Marina Bay Sands and a public relations company invites a bunch of celebrities and so called ‘key opinion leaders’ to grace the boutique opening. The event runs for a measly two-hours from 6pm – 8pm (which is way too short for a grand opening). At 6.30pm or so the celebrities appear, have their photos taken at the photo wall, do a walkabout at the boutique, followed by short media interviews and more photo opportunities with the guests – just so you know, they can fulfill their so called one-hour commitment at the event – and POOF! They’re gone in 60 minutes or less.
Famous names include Hong Kong actor Louis Koo as well as local stars Jeanette Aw, Felicia Chin and Zhang Zhen Huan who were all dressed predictably in head-to-toe Tod’s.
Even the brand’s limited edition collection available exclusively at Marina Bay Sands failed to excite.
The only saving grace was the boutique’s interior which in itself was marvelously done with its suspended leather paneled steel cases, high-gloss ceilings and marble floors. Other than that, it’s a really really short, nice but not so exciting opening at Marina Bay Sands.
