Portrait Of Divinity

In this bewitching fall, Valentino’s designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli brought enchantment in the midst of romance. Like every girl’s favourite bedtime story, a fairy tale was told. Painting a detailed portrait of divinity, the collection features intricate embroidery reminiscent of the Flemish masters. An inauguration of sensuality and mystery, it’s hard not to draw a connection with Vermeer’s poetic works.

Remember Dorothy’s beloved ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz? I definitely see the modern girls’ answer in a pair of Valentino’s signature red. Bearing a tinge of cultish nativity, the models float in their sculptured shoes. With a wide silk velvet body on those chunky heels, the ‘exposed’ sides of the foot add fragility.

The whimsical lizard clutch with polka dot mink details includes a front strap that is as functional as it is fashionable. In this clutch collection, you will not miss the eye-captivating China blue prints inspired by Delft ceramics. One of my personal favourites, Valentino’s studded series have been the most desired (even amongst Hollywood celebrities). The updated style for fall-winter 2013 continues to melt my heart. The embellished mini gold studs will add some spunk definition to your look but for the less adventurous, the pastel coloured and dainty pearl clutches will certainly be the choice pick!

It must be a rhythm of meticulous thoughts playing through the designers’ heads, for every surprising element was just adequate — vivid colors, tapestry, embroidery and modern scallop shapes. Entirely in tune with Valentino’s femininity, the pair definitely did a timeless rendition perfectly this season.
